Long Multiplication

Grand Prix

Today we have started to work on designing a rocket racer. We have discussed how we can use propulsion and how reduced friction can help with speed. We will have a race off against the other Level 4 classes soon. The students will need to look for materials to make their wheels.

Grade 6R 2009

YEAR OF ASTRONOMY
Our Integrated Topic for Term 3 is Space. We have started the topic with a visit from Starlab which is a portable planetarium. As it is the Year of Astronomy there appears to be an infinite amount of resources available and we will take advantage of this as much as possible. Students will begin with a project on an astronomer of their own choice.
In Week 2 Level 4 students will begin to keep a Moon Log as they observe the Moon over one month. They will make a astrolabe to measure the distance of the Moon from the horizon and will sketch its appearance. the students will use their log as a basis for a report on the phases of the Moon.
In class, groups will investigate the planets in our solar System by completing a web quest and then create a planet to meet certain criteria. Later in the term they will design a Rocket Car which will culminate in our Grand Prix. We will also be busy with Arts Eelectives in preparation for our Arts Evenings at the end of the term.
